Founded in 1974 by local citizens, the Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose goal is to maintain and enrich the lives of older citizens throughout Nassau County. NCCOA’s programs enable those age 60 and older to live independently at home while also providing opportunities for companionship, and activities geared toward the needs of seniors. NCCOA is a resource for education, information, referral, counseling and general assistance.

We deliver critical services to Nassau County seniors in five major categories: Meals on Wheels, Home Health Services, NassauTRANSIT, Adult Day HealthCare and the two Senior Life Centers we operate: the East Nassau Center in Fernandina Beach and the West Nassau Center in Hilliard.

The NCCOA also acts as an advocate for our senior citizens and works tirelessly to educate the community about aging issues and concerns. Our staff consists of highly motivated professionals, but we could not accomplish our mission without the help of our outstanding volunteers who sow “seeds of service,” making our community a better place for seniors to live happy, healthy lives.

The NCCOA also coordinates available funding and volunteer resources to maximize choices for older adults and persons with disabilities. In addition, the NCCOA provides valuable information and support for caregivers.

As part of a national network of area agencies established under regulations for the Area Agency on Aging, we are funded by federal, state and local grants and from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the United Way, as well as through donations from companies and individuals like you.
